Resident Camp Counselor - Fall 2024 Extended Season - Camp Sea Gull and Seafarer

This position is required to live on site at Camp from August 16 - October 13

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Extended Season Staff member works as part of a team responsible for delivering any and all of the Extended Season Programs, including but not limited to: Group Camping, Extended Season Resident Camps, Family Camp Programs and Outreach Programs. They are actively involved in the implementation of all activities based on an interdisciplinary curriculum and other responsibilities of the program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Ensures the health, welfare, care and safety of all participants at all times.
  • Supervises and provides instruction on all assigned activities throughout the day.
  • Lives with, as needed, and supervises campers in a cabin for three day camps.
  • Leads and assists in evening programs, camp fires and entertainment for participants.
  • Acts as a positive role model for campers, students, parents, teachers, patrons and the Extended Season Staff.
  • Upkeep of the facilities and equipment on a daily basis. Maintains the facilities for safety, cleanliness and program readiness, ensuring camp looks presentable and inviting.
  • Is a positive and willing member of the staff, assisting in all programs.
  • Abides by the Basic Staff Requirements of Camp Sea Gull/Seafarer's Programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 1-2 years of experience working with children preferred
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Willing and able to work outdoors
  • Creative self-starter willing to follow through
  • Exhibit strong communication skills
  • Be dependable, consistent and able to work in a group setting
  • Strong decision making skills
  • Have a general knowledge and passion for camping programs
  • First Aid / CPR / CDL / Lifeguard Training / Coast Guard license a plus

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

In addition to the above responsibilities, the person in this position must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, walk at least a mile without assistance, deal with conflict in a positive way, have the ability to work in high-stress situations, and be able to work very long hours.

Compliance with all COVID related PPE, cleaning, reporting and prevention expectations efforts. Further training and detail will be provided upon question and/or hire.
